LHR is seeking candidates with a commitment to social justice and equality to apply for the following vacancies in the Refugee and Migrant Rights Programme:
1. Attorney - Durban
The ideal candidate is a self-motivated attorney with an interest in constitutional and human rights law. Good writing and research skills are essential. High Court litigation experience and knowledge of refugee and administrative law would be an advantage.
2. Attorney - Johannesburg
The position requires an admitted attorney with an interest in immigration detention and High Court litigation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring places of immigration detention and providing direct legal assistance to unlawfully detained persons as well as activities around xenophobia prevention and response. Litigation experience and drafting skills are required.
3. Attorney/Paralegal - Musina
LHR’s Musina office offers legal assistance to refugees and migrant workers. The candidate will be responsible for monitoring immigration detention facilities and provide legal interventions to prevent unlawful detention and deportation as well as liaison with the UNHCR and other stakeholders.
